Setauket Harbor Here We Come!!  We are blessed to have received a wonderful weather report for tomorrow morning’s adventure.  Our Yoga Paddle (which is kayaking, canoeing or rowing, NOT STAND UP paddle boarding, there has been some confusion on that minor detail) happens to fall on two very auspicious events.  It is the Autumnal Equinox (Day and Night are equal in length and the first day of Fall) and the Global Mala for Peace (which honors the International Day of Peace by creating a Yoga Mala (chain) around the world in which yoga communities across the globe will be practicing sun salutations to send out the energy of peace to all beings everywhere.  There is going to be great energy surrounding our event and I am so excited to be able to lead you through a practice knowing we are joining in with yoga communities everywhere.

The Setauket Harbor Kayak and Canoe Rental will open its doors at 930am especially for us so that those of you who are renting can rent and paddle over to the beach by the dock before the start of our pre-paddle stretch at 10am.  Below is the schedule (subject to flexibility) for the morning.

True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new!

 Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Greetings dear yoga students,

One of my beloved teachers, Rolf Gates, once said to us, “Don’t allow your duties to become your burdens”.  This saying has always stuck with me.  Within the daily round of doing, taking care of, maintaining and getting things done, we can sometimes feel very burdened.  While completing our yearly ritual today of making and jarring up our tomato sauce, this quote hovered over me like the fine sunshine that was streaming down from the sky.  “Don’t allow your duties to become your burdens”.  The hard work we put in today pleasures us all year long; when we open a jar in mid-winter, when we give some to someone having hard times or when we simply share a meal with family and friends.  Doing something once a year creates a specialness, an excitement and my husband and I usually feel a “zest in creating” it (until right about now, when we are ready to collapse).  But, it is in our daily duties that we also need to find that joy for a job well done  .  Whatever your  duties consist of this week, try to look at them with a fresh attitude.  If your duties are really become your burdens, try to change the way you do them, creating an atmosphere that promotes happiness or give yourself a special reward for completing the task.  If your duties still seem heavy to carry, simply look back at the end of the week and find true happiness knowing your deeds were well done to the best of your ability with an intention of love and service for all.

The reward of a thing well done, is having done it.

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.

Mother Teresa

Greetings dear yoga students,

In order for something to be sacred, a word, an action, an intention, it must come from the heart.  Its not how much we do but how much love we put into the action.  Mother Teresa continually tells us that to bring peace and love into the world we must first bring peace and love into our own homes, right where we are at present.  Please consider joining me next Sunday, Aug 25th as we greet the day with a Yoga Fundraiser at Cedar Beach.  100% of the proceeds will be donated to our very own soup kitchen and food pantry, The Invited Inn, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Point.  With our small contributions we can help to feed the hungry right here in our own community.  If you can’t make the yoga class, I will be accepting donations through the month of August during regular classes.  Scroll down for details.
