Yoga this Week-March 10, 2024

Greetings dear yoga friends,

What a beautiful morning we had yesterday at our Celebrating Light Mini-Retreat! It’s amazing how fast a group of women can create such connection beauty, meaning and fun! ❤️  Some ways to Light yourself up and delight in the coming of springtime sun that came out of our gathering:

Listen to the birdsong

Be present for the sunrise and/or sunset

Make meaningful connections

Make mental notes on the small things that bring you joy throughout your day

Go see a concert with a lightshow

Notice how the sun reflects off things or through the cracks

Let your creativity flow to expand your conscience and create

Listen to your favorite songs

Enjoy the light in children

Get out into nature

Let things go and lighten up

Yoga this Week-February 26, 2024

Dear friends

Returning home from the beautiful island of Cozumel, I am renewed and refreshed. The energy of Spring is becoming more and more apparent in the atmosphere and we just passed the last full moon of Winter!!

Take in these final precious few weeks before all the activity begins to bubble up and take hold of you. Looking forward to getting back into routine and sharing some important insights I Came Upon during the week I was away. It’s amazing teaching yoga in different countries.   I come upon so many kindred spirits that make me feel right at home

Yoga this Week-February 11, 2024

Dear friends,

No matter how much we worry, ruminate or obsess over what is going to happen in the future, we have little to no control over it. We have to live into the present with patience for the future to unfold before our eyes. All the anxiety we create in our minds does nothing but distant us from the precious present moment. Why not surrender to the flow? Do the best you can today and let tomorrow take care of itself. Letting go of worry is a practice of self compassion that allows your heart to be at peace.

Yoga this Week-February 4, 2024

“From wherever the mind wanders do to its flickering and unsteady nature, one must certainly withdraw it and bring it back under the control of the self” The Bhagavad Gita 6:26

The above quote is from the chapter entitled Dhyana Yoga. Dhyana, which is the seventh limb in Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga, translates as the liberation of mind from all disturbing and distracting emotions, thoughts and desires.

Keep in mind (pun intended) that these two sacred books (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and The Bhavavad Gita) were both written sometime around the 2nd Century bce. It is something Humanity has been struggling with for a very very long time. So have patience with yourself and remember; any effort on this path is NEVER wasted!

Yoga this Week-January 21, 2024

Dear Friends,

The above passage from Thitch Nhat Hanh reminds us of how integral each one of us are to our families, our society and the world. Thus, we must cultivate a commitment to our practice. Yoga teaches us to stand steady, magnanimous and confident in our physical postures and embody our authentic selves. It is from this solidity that we can return to ourselves again and again creating positive influences in our inner and outer environment for the benefit of all beings.
