“It is the wilderness in
the mind, the desert wastes in the heart through which one wanders lost and a stranger. When one is a
stranger to oneself then one is estranged from others too. If one is out of touch with oneself, then one
cannot touch others.”

Greetings Dearest Friends,

The need for solitude and time to pursue creative endeavors is so very important to the journey inward, to discover, befriend and cultivate your relationship to yourself.  This is also key  in the practice of  accepting and embracing changes in relationships, in life’s circumstances and in the world at large.  When we are intimate with our inner being, we can find the grounding, gratitude and joy within that we crave to find healing and wholeness which enables us to accept instead of resist life’s circumstances with grace.  So this Labor Day, give yourself some time and space to get in touch with you.  Be  with yourself without placing any demands or lofty outcomes.  Let go of having to accomplish and just allow your inner child to play, relax and just be.

Yoga this Week-April 19, 2020

Faith, Courage and Strength.  What better qualities to embrace right now as we stand at the door of mystery, uncertain of how things will be as days turn into weeks and weeks into months.  Let’s face it,  none of us have ever been here before so we are learning new ways of being.   Teaching virtually has been challenging and one of my greatest joys during this time.  Having some semblance of normalcy by heading down to the yoga room and teaching is basically helping to keep me sane.  I hope to see you this week.  If you have any questions about how to sign in, contact me and I will walk you through it.  Be well.   Embrace the Present and know I am sending love and hugs!

Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain.

Doug Coupland

Dearest yoga students,
Step outside your door and take in all the amazing abundance of the natural world.  We can learn so much from natures rhythms as we allow her to nurture, sooth and remind us we are all part of the same whole.  I get a deep sense of comfort as I watch the birds fly back and forth from tree to tree.   They have the freedom and joy many of us long for.   The many varieties, sizes and colors interact and co-exist in harmony with each other and the world around them, adjusting from season to season with the ability to simply sing after a storm.   Take time to become aware of how the birds, the trees, the water, the wind are orchestrating a beautiful symphony all around you. Try to look up often, walk barefoot to experience the earth,  and enjoy the breeze as it caresses your skin.   Remind yourself you are as free as the birds in the air to sing your unique song in order to  make the world a better place.
“A bird does not sing because it has the answer.  It sings because it has a song.” Chinese Proverb

Happy New Year dear Yoga Students,

We had a wonderful time at the Kirtan last Friday night and I was amazed how free and happy I felt the next day!  The energy has stayed with me all weekend.  I was particularly taken with the moment we chanted to “our struggles” during Hari Om Tat Sat which translates as we bow to the truth of all that is sacred.  Our struggles are part of our sacred path.  Just like moving into the darkness from Autumn Equinox to Winter Solstice, it is part of the sacred cycle of our lives to move in and out and forward and back again.  Hopefully we learn to grow,  to leave behind what doesn’t serve us, take with us the lessons and honor the journey.  Here we are, beautiful yogi’s, at the start of a brand new year.  May you all and all beings find peace within your darkness and may we all honor the ever increasing light together as we travel this life together.
