Yoga this Week – January 26, 2020

The Niyamas (the second limb of the eight fold yogic path) are given to us as tools for happiness, self-confidence and peace.  They are ways of cultivating an inside environment conducive to clear seeing, calm abiding and wisdom.  Powerful, simple but not always easy.  If you pay attention, many opportunities will arise for you to explore these powerful but simple ethical practices.  Small and subtle shifts in awareness create important changes over time.  Have fun with them!

“If you can’t fly then run.  If you can’t run then walk.  If you can’t walk then crawl.  But whatever you do you have to keep moving forward”  MLK

Come to your practice in whatever state you may be in if possible.  Chances are you will feel better after class then you did before.  Remind yourself that All you have to do is show up and do your best.  Being present and allowing for space in all the myriads of moods and energies teaches us the most precious lesson of yoga practice:  To be with life on life’s terms instead of trying to run away.  It teaches us to be present enough to see how things shift, change and ultimate resolve.  Just keep moving forward even if that means we have to crawl.

Watch out!  I’m extremely excited to be researching facilities for a Weekend Goddess Retreat coming Fall of 2020 – Details to follow

Greetings dearest yoga students,

Dignity, poise, kindness and compassion are the skills that yoga is meant to give us.  When you think about how your yoga practice is progressing, think not about how deep your forward bend is or how long you can hold a balance in tree pose; think on how present you are becoming in your life.  Are you becoming more patient, more calm, stronger and better able to face your problems?  Do you acknowledge how lucky and blessed you are to be alive?  Can you see how your behaviors can be a power of example to those around you?    These are the true markers of yoga; dignity and poise as you meet your day to day life head on.

January 23rd New Moon Reiki Circle 7-8pm

The first new moon of the year is a powerful time to clear old, stale energy and ready your mind, body and spirit for the New Year! Join us for a beautiful evening of intention setting, healing and sharing energy. All are welcome whether you are new to Reiki, a Reiki practitioner, or just curious to know what it’s all about.

Reiki is an ancient healing modality and is non-invasive. The healing energy is channeled through the hands of the practitioner to the receiver. Reiki calms the nervous system, releases muscle tension and emotional imbalances. Reiki enhances the body’s own capacity for healing and opens the receiver to her own powerful light.

Contact me for location details if you have never been to my space.

Suggested donation $12 per person. If possible bring something to be donated to our local food pantry.

Relax and Renew Day Retreat Celebrating Imbolc

imbolc pic

Saturday, February 8th 10am to 3pm

“Let us nurture the spirit of renewal and embrace the light of the lengthening days”

Honoring the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc, the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, we will take time to contemplate the seeds we may have sown during the dark days of winter. Imbolc is the time of new beginnings, the melting away and excitement as we begin to see the signs of spring yet to come.

You are invited to let yourself be nourished by a gentle yoga practice, meditation & intention setting, a self-inquiry activity, a healthy lunch (prepared together), a brief outdoor activity (if weather permits) and a deep yoga nidra relaxation practice infused with Reiki & Oils.

Join us for a day of relaxation, rejuvenation, and connection to begin readying your body, mind and spirit for the spark of new life and inspiration.

$55 if paid before January 1st/$65 Thereafter if space allows

Yoga this Week – January 5, 2020

Happy New Year to you all!

May this year bring all beings,  and the body of earth, love, light and peace.  May you show yourself true compassion as we linger in these dark days heading for the light.  The only way we can truly show compassion and forgiveness for others is when  we authentically shine the light into the dark parts of  ourselves.  Shanti, shanti shanti! May there be peace within and without!
