With the new energy of spring coming in, I am always inspired to dive deeper into yoga’s amazing philosophies that connect me to the wonder of change. Lilas passed on March 9th at the age of 90.
In the following interview, Lilas Folan breaks down this ancient practice for everyday people in everyday life. She shares how yoga balances the pain and struggle of living in the material world with the desire to be free in the midst of all of it.
The Metta Prayer above is one that I say often especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed, helpless, or guilty that I have so much and so many have so little. I encourage you to get to know this prayer; sending it to those that are suffering, sending it to anyone that you might be at odds with, sending it to yourself and/or to all beings everywhere. Use it as a meditation or a mantra anytime you wish.

I have my niece Lexi’s soaps for purchase when you come for class. I’ve been experiencing her soaps and they are amazing. They are all natural made with essential oils. One even has a loofah built right into the soap. They are $5.50 each or two for $10. See pictures below.

It is, literally, hard to believe that we’re halfway to the Spring Equinox. The light is increasing even with the cold temperatures we’ve been having. Tune in to the bright Sunshine whenever you can. It has the ability to uplift spirits in the trusting that light and warmth will always return.

Its important to remember that it is through the struggle of the caterpillar to become a butterfly, the determination of the seed to push through the ground and the unstoppable ability to get through the dark times of our life that make us stronger, more resilient and compassionate towards ourselves and others.
