Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain.

Doug Coupland

Dearest yoga students,
Step outside your door and take in all the amazing abundance of the natural world.  We can learn so much from natures rhythms as we allow her to nurture, sooth and remind us we are all part of the same whole.  I get a deep sense of comfort as I watch the birds fly back and forth from tree to tree.   They have the freedom and joy many of us long for.   The many varieties, sizes and colors interact and co-exist in harmony with each other and the world around them, adjusting from season to season with the ability to simply sing after a storm.   Take time to become aware of how the birds, the trees, the water, the wind are orchestrating a beautiful symphony all around you. Try to look up often, walk barefoot to experience the earth,  and enjoy the breeze as it caresses your skin.   Remind yourself you are as free as the birds in the air to sing your unique song in order to  make the world a better place.
“A bird does not sing because it has the answer.  It sings because it has a song.” Chinese Proverb

Yoga this Week – October 28, 2018

We will discover the nature of our particular genius when we stop trying to conform to our own or other people’s models, learn to be ourselves,
and allow our natural channel to open.”
Shaki Gawain

Like so many yoga practices, svadhyaya is the study of the self.  Yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation are all ways to peel off the layers of our false selves and dive in to our authenticity.   To guide us in this process, we can turn again and again to those spiritual teachers that inspire us.  They are there in books, in music, in our dreams, in nature or maybe sitting right across from us at work, home or in our community.  The more open and compassionate to our own “particular genius” that we can become, the more our “natural channels” to the divine open and our dharma (life’s purpose) is revealed.

Join us for a beautiful evening of healing and sharing energy. All are welcome whether you are new to Reiki, a Reiki practitioner, or just curious to know what it’s all about. Reiki is an ancient healing modality and is non-invasive. The healing energy is channeled through the hands of the practitioner to the receiver. Reiki calms the nervous system, releases muscle tension and emotional imbalances. Reiki enhances the body’s own capacity for healing love and light. Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain.
                                                          Doug Coupland

Greetings dear yoga students,

I have been so enamored by all the birds are visiting my feeder this year.  So many varieties, sizes, shapes and colors fill my vision with vibrancy and joy.  I often think about the way they live.  So simply in tune with each other and nature.  They are a constant reminder,  as I sit at my computer  watching them swoop and land and soar,   not to take life so seriously. Much like my time on my yoga mat, observing them reminds me to trust, let go and fly into the moments of my life with purpose, freedom and joy. Birds are truly a miracle to behold, they prove to us that there is a finer state of being we can strive to attain and that state of being is yoga.

Yoga this Week – March 25, 2018

“Your life is a sacred journey.  It is about change, growth, discovery, movement, transformation, continuously expanding your vision of what is possible, stretching your soul, learning to see clearly and deeply, listening to your intuition, taking courageous challenges at every step along the way.  You re on the path…exactly where you are meant to be right now …And from here, you can only go forward, shaping your life story into a magnificent tale of triumph of healing, of courage, of beauty, of wisdom, of power, of dignity, and of love”

                                                                                                          ~~Caroline Adams

Hoping this email finds you all well, enjoying this sacred journey we call our lives.  Contemplating this quote,  I am reminded of the great power in being still, being challenged, being opened and being free.  Stepping out of our comfort zone and embracing our vulnerability helps to expand our “vision of what is possible” in our lives.  Life itself is the greatest journey we will ever take.  It is an adventure into the unknown forest of emotions, into the complexity of our minds, the amazing resilience of our bodies, the flowing energy of relationships and most importantly, an adventure into that deep inner wellspring of compassion and love  from which all magnificent tales of triumph are born.
