“You can look at every single problem in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit;

you stay alert to opportunities by being grounded in the wisdom of uncertain,

so when your preparedness meets opportunity,  the solution will spontaneous appear.”

Deepak Chopra

Dear yoga Students,

My wish for you on this beautiful Monday morning is that you find yourself feeling grounded in in the wisdom of uncertainly surrounding yourself in peace.   The wisdom of uncertainty is based in the reality that we are merely floating through space and time, traveling to  unknown shores.   It is relinquishing our perceived control and going with the flow of our lives, open to possibility at all times.  When we get stuck in trying to control, we become attached to outcomes and instead of being open to possibilities, we become closed and miss the very solution that is presenting itself.  Grounding yourself in the wisdom of uncertainty, allows you to be free to explore, create and be spontaneous.  These are the true gifts of being alive.

Whether you are trying to balance in a yoga pose, sit on your meditation cushion, or enjoying a holiday if your trying to achieve perfection, it will only elude you,  create judgments, increase stress and take you away from the very energy you desire.  Instead breathe into the possibly of just being and see what arisises.   Stay open, flow and float, enjoy the moment and find the serenity and excitement  that comes from resting in the field of uncertainty.

Yoga this Week – August 3, 2015

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality.

Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

Lao Tzu

om on beach

Greetings dearest yoga students,

We are in the midst of changes, some that are natural like aging and children growing up.  Others are spontaneous like suddenly losing your job or winning the lottery.  We all feel anchored in what is familiar to us and are comforted in what we can count on, like an old favorite receipe or comfy chair.  However, whether we want change or not, it comes.  Sometimes slowly and sometimes like a tidal wave sweeping us off our feet.  The best we can do is “let reality be reality” and join in with the flow.  Allow yourself time to grieve the past if you need to but with all the compassion you can muster up, don’t resist change or try to control it. Allow the energy of acceptance to flow towards gratitude for all you are able to experience.  Like a beautiful flowing river, allow your life to flow and ebb and flow, using your precious energy to be a part of it all.

Come and clear body, mind and spirit with an all levels detox flow including a guided chakra meditation and yoga nidra.

We all tend to indulge in rich foods around the holidays but detoxing is more than just physical.  We also may experience emotional heaviness, grief, elation followed by sadness or just plain exhaustion with a sense of being out of balance!

Class will begin with asana infused with flowing,  twisting, forward bending, and kriyas (cleansing practices) for the body, followed by a chakra clearing meditation for emotional grounding and ending with deep yogic relaxation to enliven the spirit.

Please reserve your spot as soon as possible for this special Saturday morning class.  We need at least four students to sign up for class to run.

**Special Note:  Please try not to eat anything heavy for at least 2 hours prior to class as we will be doing cleansing kriyas, pranayama and twisting.

Shanti, shanti, shanti!!!

Yoga this Week – No Tuesday Morning Class

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.”

The Root Chakra Elements

Sanskrit Name:  Mulhadhara Meaning: “Root support” Root Chakra Element: Earth/Physical Root Chakra Keywords: “I Am” – grounded, present, safe, secure, healthy Associated Color: Red Musical Note: C Organs: Spinal column, legs, hips, kidneys and adrenal gland Root Chakra Consciousness: Survival, grounding and balancing the physical and spiritual life

The root chakra (Mulhadhara) is located at the base of the spine and radiates a rich color of red.  This chakra deeply connects us with the earth.  It is in this chakra that we ground into our lives, who we are and our sense of belonging.  When this chakra is balanced it tells us we are loved for who we are and that our basic needs for survival (love, food, shelter) are being met.  It affords us the inner confidence and courage to be who we truly are because deep inside our root, we know we are loved.  When we feel grounded and secure in our lives we become willing to take risks, to be vulnerable enough to make mistakes and to give to others more freely without fear of judgement, rejection or lack of resources.

If you are feeling unbalanced in these areas, unsure of your life’s direction or your place in this world, try this simple Root Chakra Meditation.  Sit in an east comfortable cross legged position on the floor.  Connect to the base of your spine and feel the energy of the earth rising up.  Chant the sound of LAM, LAM, LAM and feel its vibration radiate throughout your entire body.  Think of the Mulhadhara chakra as a lotus flower grounded in the mud and muck of life’s suffering and pain and as you chant the sound of LAM, visualize this lotus rising up your spine, clean, clear, open and free…..end your meditation by repeating this mantra.
I forgive myself for being Imperfect
I forgive myself for Making Mistakes
I forgive myself for being a Learner in this Lifetime
So Hum
I am what I am
