The goal is not to tie ourselves in knots …

we’re already tied in knots.
The aim is to untie the knots in our hearts.
The aim is to unite with the ultimate, loving, and peaceful power in the universe.”

– Max Strom

Yoga helps us to “untie the knots” not only in our overworked, overstressed bodies but also in the parts of our hearts that we seemed to have closed.  Focus your attention on this “ultimate, loving and  peaceful power in the universe” and let it calm, soothe and give you the courage and strength to untie, unwind and open up the flood gates of your hearts.  When the heart chakra is open and free, we have the ability to love and be loved, unconditionally,  and there is absolutely no greater force than that in this world or beyond.

Yoga this Week – No Tuesday Morning Class

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.”

The Root Chakra Elements

Sanskrit Name:  Mulhadhara Meaning: “Root support” Root Chakra Element: Earth/Physical Root Chakra Keywords: “I Am” – grounded, present, safe, secure, healthy Associated Color: Red Musical Note: C Organs: Spinal column, legs, hips, kidneys and adrenal gland Root Chakra Consciousness: Survival, grounding and balancing the physical and spiritual life

The root chakra (Mulhadhara) is located at the base of the spine and radiates a rich color of red.  This chakra deeply connects us with the earth.  It is in this chakra that we ground into our lives, who we are and our sense of belonging.  When this chakra is balanced it tells us we are loved for who we are and that our basic needs for survival (love, food, shelter) are being met.  It affords us the inner confidence and courage to be who we truly are because deep inside our root, we know we are loved.  When we feel grounded and secure in our lives we become willing to take risks, to be vulnerable enough to make mistakes and to give to others more freely without fear of judgement, rejection or lack of resources.

If you are feeling unbalanced in these areas, unsure of your life’s direction or your place in this world, try this simple Root Chakra Meditation.  Sit in an east comfortable cross legged position on the floor.  Connect to the base of your spine and feel the energy of the earth rising up.  Chant the sound of LAM, LAM, LAM and feel its vibration radiate throughout your entire body.  Think of the Mulhadhara chakra as a lotus flower grounded in the mud and muck of life’s suffering and pain and as you chant the sound of LAM, visualize this lotus rising up your spine, clean, clear, open and free…..end your meditation by repeating this mantra.
I forgive myself for being Imperfect
I forgive myself for Making Mistakes
I forgive myself for being a Learner in this Lifetime
So Hum
I am what I am
