Yoga this Week & USB Interview – March 4, 2018

Greetings dearest yoga students,

Yoga teaches us to enjoy and trust the process; to have the right intention and alignment and let go of the results.  If we can simply learn to trust and have faith in our own capacity for our highest selves to show up, we may find true, uncontrived freedom of expression as well as the ability to be courageous in difficult moments.  What is your vision today, can you hold that in your heart and mind and trust the process?

I had such a wonderful time joining Captain Phil at 90.1 USB Radio Station on Friday night.  If you would like to give a listen to my interview, click on one of the links below.  I come on at about 28 minutes in.  The interview ends with one of my favorite songs by a wonderful local musician, Rory Kelly, it’s called “If You Teach a Bird to Sing”  Hope you enjoy it!

Yoga is beneficial for everybody.  It is a non-competitive way for kids to increase strength and flexibility, encouraging self expression and creativity which boosts self-esteem and confidence.  Yoga practice is known for increasing concentration and attention span by promoting inner calm and relaxation.  Yoga can be practiced by kids of all abilities and fosters a sense of non-judgmental community.   But the most important aspect for kids is that it can be so much fun!!!

Dearest Yoga Students,

Many changes continue to take place in all of our lives.  Some welcome and some not so welcome, however, I have found they always do lead to an opening, a shift that takes shape and becomes something new and wonderful to explore.  Our yoga practice helps us to learn to meet changes head on with steadiness and ease.  We can take a breath, hold our pose with tenderness and watch the changes take place.  Yoga teaches us that our lives, our bodies  and our minds are malleable, shapeable and that we are never stuck.  We can grow, adapt and become more courageous than we ever thought we could when we let go of fear and walk through that doorway of change.

A snippet of our Equinox Goddess Retreat!!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson

Our third annual Equinox Goddess Retreat was amazing; the weather, the space, the place and all the Goddesses were breathtakingly beautiful.  Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel for this experience!  Onward and inward we go to the lovely season of Autumn!

thoughts

We can either let our thoughts pull us in different directions like wind blows a leaf at will or we can stop and be the still point like a tree, standing firm as the turbulence moves around and through us.  We cannot stop the mind, just like we can’t control people, places or things around us, but we can choose to be the calm force amidst the changing winds.  Meditation teaches us to “be still and know”, becoming still allows us to see our thoughts with clarity so when we leave our practice we have a better sense of who we are and what is really important to us. These truths lie beneath habitual thought patterns, stilling your body, focusing on your breath is like going underneath the water to discover that an entire new world exists beneath the surface..  A world that lives within you. A world that is calm, focused and knows exactly how to be in this sometimes confusing environment of the mind.

“You can look at every single problem in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit;

you stay alert to opportunities by being grounded in the wisdom of uncertain,

so when your preparedness meets opportunity,  the solution will spontaneous appear.”

Deepak Chopra

Dear yoga Students,

My wish for you on this beautiful Monday morning is that you find yourself feeling grounded in in the wisdom of uncertainly surrounding yourself in peace.   The wisdom of uncertainty is based in the reality that we are merely floating through space and time, traveling to  unknown shores.   It is relinquishing our perceived control and going with the flow of our lives, open to possibility at all times.  When we get stuck in trying to control, we become attached to outcomes and instead of being open to possibilities, we become closed and miss the very solution that is presenting itself.  Grounding yourself in the wisdom of uncertainty, allows you to be free to explore, create and be spontaneous.  These are the true gifts of being alive.

 Whether you are trying to balance in a yoga pose, sit on your meditation cushion, or enjoying a holiday if your trying to achieve perfection, it will only elude you,  create judgments, increase stress and take you away from the very energy you desire.  Instead breathe into the possibly of just being and see what arisises.   Stay open, flow and float, enjoy the moment and find the serenity and excitement  that comes from resting in the field of uncertainty.
