Yoga this Week-May 27, 2024

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic.

It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost,

but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.
Arthur Ashe

In gratitude and sorrow for all the heros who gave their lives in service.

Happy Mother’s Day a day late!

Dearest Yoga Friends,

On Children

Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let our bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Magical May Day!

Greetings on the second day of May.

Wonderful uplifting gathering last night. Gratitude for all that attended in person and in spirit!

Here’s the chant Barbara taught us. Sing it every day in May!

“Every day that is May I will celebrate! And that starts with today”

Followed by a link to the James Taylor song we danced around the labrynth to and the lyrics below.

  Enjoy

First of May

James Taylor
And the light between us
Which we couldn’t quite extinguish
Which we see at dawn
Burns on, burns on
First day of May
Things are beginning
Our side is winning
Hip hip hooray
Made in the shade
Deep in the shadow
Down by the meadow
Lie in my arms
And the moon will rise
Before our very eyes
We will rise too
I’ll be with you
It’s a rite of spring
A horizontal thing
The sweetest sort of dance
Hidden in among the plants
People are laughing
Children are singing
Come join the dance
And the walls around us
Which we kept at such a cost
When we turned around
Came tumbling down, tumbling down
She can’t stop laughing
He can’t stop singing
First day of May
Fetch him down
Fetch him down
Fetch him down
Fetch him down

“The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other”

Greetings dear yoga friends,

Spring is here in all its glory!  Find reassurance in its coming for everything has its season and its reason.  May 1st,  or Beltane, is the halfway point between Vernal Equinox and Summer Solstice and a great day to celebrate life, growth and expansion!  If you plan on coming Wednesday night, please wear a flower, greenery, or wreath in your hair to honor the day.

Yoga this Week-April 22, 2024. Happy Earth Day!

Namaste on this glorious Earth Day!

As Mother Earth displays her amazing Beauty , the Full Pink Moon is also on the Rise and filling up for its peak tomorrow night.  It is truly a time of year to behold. Everything in nature is waking up and brightening our days. Don’t miss the fleeting moment that is now. As the full moon becomes brighter, feel all the energy growing inside and outside and allow yourself space to grow.

“Bandhas can help Achieve total control of your energy, Go beyond limitations, and Experience and Explore without Limits.”

Sadhguru

Yogic bandhas (energy locks) seal in your prana (life force energy) for you to use in the most productive way creating strength, stamina, and well being in all areas of your life.

Bandhas not only engage and encourage the flow of pranic energy through the nadis (energy meridians), but also interacts with the nervous system and blood flow through the blood vessels.

We will continue our practice this month with the exploration of these amazing yogic techniques. For further reading, I found this article very informative. https://www.arogyayogaschool.com/blog/bandhas-the-locking-techniques-of-yoga/
