The soft overcomes the hard;
the gentle overcomes the rigid.
Everyone knows this is true,
but few can put it into practice.
Tao Te Ching Chapter 78
Namaste Dear Friends,
Yoga practices guide us through the soft, open areas of ourselves to explore what is stiff and unyielding. We come to our mats with a willingness to be curious about where we are stuck and a compassionate, patient heart will gently allow us to unlock the rigid and unwilling. It is only the willingness to be the ground, to be able to crumble so the wildflowers of our hearts can bloom.
Classes are being held in person with limited spots and via the below Zoom links.
Contact me if you would like to come in person!
Shanti!

“What more can any of us hope for than to be created by the very thing we feel compelled to create”
Mark Nepo

Dearest Yoga Students,
I cannot express it more succinctly than the above quote. I am being created or found or more myself with the very things I am compelled to create! Our Spring Awakening Retreat was an amazing experience on all levels and I deeply thank all those that attended. If you missed this one, we will be doing this again!

“And the day came when the pain to remain tight in a bud was more painful that the risk it took to open”
Anais Nin

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
Brene Brown
Connection. Interdependence. Strength. Love. Acceptance. Understanding. Non-judgment…..These are the things that sustain us. To be seen in all our frailty or strength. To acknowledge the truth about ourselves in a trusting safe space, whether we are falling down in a heap or bravely facing our obstacles is tremendously liberating for us but also for those that bear witness. Today, value the energy of connection with those around you. Support them in such a way that empowers them. Bring your full attention when someone is speaking to you and let them be seen and heard. Let yourself be seen and heard and allow yourself to be sustained by the deep connections you have in your life; your connection with nature, others, your divine power, and yourself.

Greetings dear friends,
The Goddess Saraswati is worshipped for her creativity, wisdom, purity and gentleness . She is celebrated on the first day of Spring as “the one who flows”. She is said to bestow eloquence, intelligence and artistic inspiration to all who meditate on her transcendental qualities. Her calming peaceful presence reminds us of the great power of Shakti (the feminine energy that is said to be the catalyst of change and creation with love as the driving force) and the ultimate divine mother. We can meditate upon her to reconnect to the essence of our own true, divine nature where all of these beautiful qualities have always, and will always exist.
“May the great river of Saraswati overflow and grant us her grace”

“When experiencing this absolute true knowledge [of the reality of the present moment], all previous samskaras (patterns) are left behind and new ones are prevented from sprouting”
Yoga Sutra I.50
Hari Om dear yoga students,
The Sanskrit word, samskara, translates as a subconscious impression. Samskaras are deep seeded patterns that our mind continues to play over and over again. It is the thoughts, impressions and memories that we have acquired over our lifetimes that create conditioned responses and eventually become our habits. When we feel stuck in our lives or continue to approach situations the same way over and over again, hoping for different results, it is often due to our samskaras. Obsessions and compulsions have their root in the samskara of past conditions, but they can also produce positive tendencies, like committing to meditate or practice yoga everyday.
As we step on our mat, do our pranayama or sit on our meditation cushion, we face ourselves from the inside. The stillness within the movement of thoughts breaths or postures help to create space in between our impulses and actions. The creative art of detaching from our negative patterns allows us to make those much needed changes in our lives to flow freely and passionately in the direction we wish to go.
Please contact me via text or email to attend class in person! Classes are limited to 5 students.
One spot still open for our Spring Day Retreat. Contact me if you are interested!
