“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality.
Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Lao Tzu
Greetings dearest yoga students,
We are in the midst of changes, some that are natural like aging and children growing up. Others are spontaneous like suddenly losing your job or winning the lottery. We all feel anchored in what is familiar to us and are comforted in what we can count on, like an old favorite receipe or comfy chair. However, whether we want change or not, it comes. Sometimes slowly and sometimes like a tidal wave sweeping us off our feet. The best we can do is “let reality be reality” and join in with the flow. Allow yourself time to grieve the past if you need to but with all the compassion you can muster up, don’t resist change or try to control it. Allow the energy of acceptance to flow towards gratitude for all you are able to experience. Like a beautiful flowing river, allow your life to flow and ebb and flow, using your precious energy to be a part of it all.

“Yoga is the practice of observing clearly, listening acutely and skillfully responding to the moment with all the compassion we can muster”
Donna Farhi
Greetings dear yoga students,
Thank you for your continued dedication to your practice for it is you that will make this world a better place. By practicing the art of observing, listening and responding skillfully, you not only bring health and right action to those around you, but you also become a wonderful example of how a person can move through the world with integrity, kindness and love. A beautiful student remarked to me that being in class felt like a “homecoming” to her. Yoga is a homecoming; a homecoming and a connection to your body, your mind. your community and your true nature which has an amazing wellspring of intelligence, joy and compassion waiting just below the surface to shine!!

Hari Om Dear Yoga Students, “Santosha, or the practice of contentment, is the ability to feel satisfied within the container of one’s immediate experience” Donna Farhi Feeling satisfied within the container of one’s immediate experience means to meet the present moment with a fresh perspective and open up to everything it has to offer. Satisfaction combines the energies of acceptance and gratitude. Contentment is not based on what you think you need to be satisfied, but more a sense of gratitude for what you already have. The ability to feel satisfied within the container of your immediate experience comes when you allow your expectations to fade and your perceptions to clear enabling you to become empty of past impressions; this is the practice of yoga, this is the practice of Santosha.
