” The Past and the Future is a joke to me now. I see that they’re nothin’. I see they ain’t here. The only thing that’s here is you and me…..I love you. Not, not like they told you love is….[the story books are bull], love don’t make things nice, it ruins everything! It breaks your heart, it makes things a mess. We, we aren’t here to make things perfect. Snowflakes are perfect, stars are perfect. Not us! Not us!”
Ronny Cammareri, “Moonstruck”
The above quote is one of my all time favorite movie lines. We are not here to be perfect, for our lives to look flawless, to create what society’s idea of a beautiful life is. We are here to have our hearts broken a thousand times because we are meant to experience the oceans of emotions our life is full of. We are here to experience the wonder of being human; with all its hills and valleys, like the moon we continually cycle through a myriad of phases to become whole again. As we near the end of another year, embrace this truth: That loving, and being truly vulnerable in your life doesn’t always look nice and that truly living wholeheartedly means taking the risk that sometimes your heart will break; sometimes you will make a mess.
Our Yoga practice helps us remember that we are perfect just the way we are and that our lives our beautiful as they are. Within our practice we may fall down, sweat, and sometimes struggle just to bear the truth of our bodies and minds but when we get back up again and return to our mats, “We breath and something in us softens, makes space for the imperfections”. So let go of the storybook idea of how your life should look. Let go and enjoy the scenery of today. Be vulnerable, be open, allow grief, joy, success and failure, falling down and getting back up to all be part of the great tapestry that is your life. When you reach into the beauty of imperfection; the crooked tree, the moon’s craters, the clouded sky, tears in a loved one’s eyes, experience it fully, turning away from nothing that you find. The messes will be there, the heartaches will surface, the past and future are but memories and dreams, breathe it all in and find your joy in being present through it all for yourself and those around you.

New Year Detox – Saturday, January 3rd at 8:45am
New Year Detox – Saturday, January 3rd at 8:45am
Come and clear body, mind and spirit with an all levels detox flow including a guided chakra meditation and yoga nidra.
We all tend to indulge in rich foods around the holidays but detoxing is more than just physical. We also may experience emotional heaviness, grief, elation followed by sadness or just plain exhaustion with a sense of being out of balance!
Class will begin with asana infused with flowing, twisting, forward bending, and kriyas (cleansing practices) for the body, followed by a chakra clearing meditation for emotional grounding and ending with deep yogic relaxation to enliven the spirit.
Please reserve your spot as soon as possible for this special Saturday morning class. We need at least four students to sign up for class to run.
**Special Note: Please try not to eat anything heavy for at least 2 hours prior to class as we will be doing cleansing kriyas, pranayama and twisting.

7th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration Tomorrow Evening!
Winter Solstice Celebration – Friday, December 19th at 7pm
Join us for a gathering of our Kula, which means “community of the heart” to honor this sacred time of year. The evening will include chanting, intention setting, playful yoga poses and candle ceremony. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome, new and returning students alike!! There is no charge for this event as it is a gift of gathering for our community, however, I am asking that we pool together to donate to the local food pantry. Donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries or paper goods or monetary contributions are all wonderful ways to support those that need support.
Please let me know if you are coming if you haven’t already! This is one of my most favorite holiday parties of the season!! Take this time to step out of the comings and goings and become aware how darkness turns to light and endings become beginnings.Remember the Winter Solstice, which is officially on Sunday, is the longest night of the year and the shortest day but what that really means is that we are celebrating the return of the sun!!
Reminder about what to bring
(What Not to Bring: Your Mat)
*Bring an image, word, drawing to put on our Community Yoga Vision Board. Something you wish to see more of in our world for 2015
*Bring a donation for our food pantry (non-perishable food or toiletries item)
*Bring a percussion instrument if you have it for the chanting section
*Dress Festively (Think Winter Solstice: Blues, purples, dark burgundies, sparkles, shimmers, you get the point. Festive does not necessarily mean dressed up)
*A small snack to share if you would like

Restorative Yoga, Reiki and Acupuncture with Essential Oils
Amy Perri, ERYT500/Reiki Practitioner & Benjamin Craig, Lic. Acupuncturist/Reiki Master

Yoga this Week – December 8, 2014
Sangha
Teach me what I cannot learn alone.
Let us share what we know, and what
we cannot fathom. Speak to me of
mysteries , and let us never lie to one another
May our fierce and tender longing
fuel the fire in our souls. When we
stand side by side, let us dare to focus
our desire on the truth. May we be
reminders, each for the other, that
the path of transformation passes
through the flames.
To take one step is courageous;
to stay on the path day after day,
choosing the unknown, and facing
yet another fear, that is nothing
short of grace.
