Yoga This Week – No Thursday or Friday Classes – Reg Schedule Resumes Next Week

Aparigraha
greedlessness, non-attachment

The yogi feels that the collection or hoarding of things implies a lack of faith in God and in himself to provide for the future….By the observance of aparigraha, the yogi makes his life as simple as possible and trains his mind not to feel the loss or the lack of anything. Then everything he really needs will come to him by itself at the proper time.”

Iyengar

Dear Yoga Students,

Hoping this evening finds you resting in the sweet, nourishing power that faith can provide.  Aparigraha reminds us that when we feel no lack, we are free;  free to give, free to rest, free to believe that we have everything we really need.  When we come from this power of faith, we can trust in the future, even when it is unclear.  Non-attachment, no-hoarding and non-clinging is really all about letting go.  Letting go creates the serenity we  so crave for.  Much like a trapeze artist must let go of the first ring before they can catch the second, that moment in mid air can be scary and uncomfortable, but they cannot move forward unless they let go first; we must learn the art of letting go.  Let it become sadhana (practice) by letting go of some of the heaviness of holding on to people, places or things in your life and jump with faith, trust and the knowing that the universe won’t only just catch you, but help you to soar.

Thank you to all who showed up to practice this morning on the beach and contribute by donating to The Invited Inn at Trinity Church in Rocky Point.  It was a special treat to practice to the rhythmic sounds of Billy’s Djembe drum, the gentle waves hitting the shore and the cool breeze flowing all around us.  It was truly a beautiful morning!!

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.

Mother Teresa

Greetings dear yoga students,

In order for something to be sacred, a word, an action, an intention, it must come from the heart.  Its not how much we do but how much love we put into the action.  Mother Teresa continually tells us that to bring peace and love into the world we must first bring peace and love into our own homes, right where we are at present.  Please consider joining me next Sunday, Aug 25th as we greet the day with a Yoga Fundraiser at Cedar Beach.  100% of the proceeds will be donated to our very own soup kitchen and food pantry, The Invited Inn, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Point.  With our small contributions we can help to feed the hungry right here in our own community.  If you can’t make the yoga class, I will be accepting donations through the month of August during regular classes.  Scroll down for details.

Yoga this Week – August 11, 2013

“Amazing isn’t it how some people see the basket half empty and others see it half full.  Some see life hopeless; others hopeful.  Even when things are less than perfect, if you can think of the good, the beautiful, the hopeful, you’ll be more than sustained–you’ll conquer
 –
 Greetings dear. beautiful yoga students,
 –
Remind yourself today that negative thinking will never be productive.  When you find your mind turning to those dark places, take control and change your perspective on whatever situation is baffling you at the time.  Think upon whatever is true, beautiful and right about what surrounds you.  Experiment with this and put it into practice in small ways.  If your day is going less than perfect, re-frame it in your mind.  Our minds have the power to create and bring into fruition whatever it rests upon.  Allow your mind to rest upon what it truly wonderful in your life right now….put it into practice and try to enjoy being a learner.  You may just find that by focusing on the positive,  the peace and joy of the divine spirit that lives in all things will be close at hand supporting, and guiding your day.
Classes for this Week
Monday Evening Sunset Yoga down at Hallock Landing Beach with a 7pm start.  There may be very  few sunset beach classes left as the sun is setting earlier and earlier.
Carpe Diem – Seize this Day! If you would like to experience a sunset beach class.  Email me directly at yogawithamy@optonline.net for directions.
Don’t forget to check your messages before you head out in case the weather changes..
Tuesday Morning 930am with Meditation to follow class
Thursday Evening will be in Yoga Room at 730pm as the tides will be high…
Friday Morning Healing Yoga at 930am
