“In this lovely season when the dance of surrender is obvious, we find large spaces left where something beautiful once lived. As one by one the leaves let go, a precious emptiness appears in the trees.  The naked beauty of the branches can be seen; the birds’ abandoned nests become visible.  The new spaces of emptiness reveal mountain ridges.  At night if you stand beneath a tree and gaze upward, stars now peer through the branches.  This is an important autumn lesson—when certain things fall away, there are other things that can be seen more clearly.  The same truth can be celebrated in our personal lives”

Excerpt from “The Circle of Life” by Joyce Rupp & Macrina Wiederkehr

circle_of_life_by_lionsroar787-d6p0cmu

With the grace of a tree letting go of her leaves with all her majesty and beauty, we learn to let go, making peace with the transitions in our lives. We face the stark reality that nothing lasts forever.  Things ebb and flow, autumn teaches us to honor what is dying, changing and urges us to embrace the fact that everything is always moving and flowing into something new, even if we are standing still.  Chanting one of my favorite mantras yesterday with a group of open, like-minded people, (sa ta na ma – wha hey guru) reminded me to breathe and embrace these inevitable changes.   The circle of life, death, rebirth and infinity tells us that all endings eventually become beginnings and that the walk through the hallway from a door that has closed behind us maybe dark, maybe challenging, but always leads to yet another opening, another awakening or a new perspective.  Go outside and enjoy the spaces in the trees where now the light comes in.  Feel the sun on your face as you chant:  SA TA NA MA – WHA HEY GURU and allow your life to flow.

Join Amy and Friends as they blend rhythms and harmonies in the ancient practice of Kirtan Kirtan is a call and response form of singing that creates calmness of mind, connection to spirit and joy of heart!  The practice of Kirtan or Japa, the repetition of sacred mantras, has been used in cultures all over the world to clear the mind of clutter in order to tune into a higher vibration, plus, it’s fun!  No musical experience necessary, all that is needed is an open mind and heart.

“Chanting has the ability to calm the mind, break down barriers and open the channel to the divine love and grace that is always vibrating around and within us.  Let go of your inhibitions and tap into the divine flow of sacred Chant!

Amy Perri is a Registered Yoga Teacher, ERYT500 and enjoys teaching adults and children, bringing yoga to the developmentally disabled and presenting workshops in area studios. She also takes great pride in using yoga as a fundraising tool to support local charities. As an expression of Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion), Amy enjoys taking her harmonium and musical friends on the road, providing music & chanting for asana classes and Kirtan.

“Clay is molded into vessels and because of the space where there is nothing you can carry water.
Space is carved out from a wall and because of the place where there is nothing you can receive light.
Be empty, and you will remain full…”

Dearest Yoga Students

Hoping this email finds you enjoying the bright morning sunshine and aware of all that you have been given in your life.  The more we become empty, the more we become full.  When we give ourselves time to become quiet, stilling the inner chatter of our minds and our bodies, we can become receptive to our lives instead of trying to control the direction.  Try to carve out a little emptiness in your lives as the days become shorter.    If you give yourself the gift of quiet reflection; whether you come to yoga class, journal, sit in silent meditation or cuddle with a loved one, you will allow yourself to be filled with the love, light, energy and peace that is always there for the taking.  A vessel that is full has no room;  so open your doors and windows, de-clutter your inner house and make space for the things that truly matter.

Greetings dearest yoga students,

Cherish this day. Honor the memories.  Keep your eyes open, your ears clear and your words sweet. Let go of the unnecessary and gather close to what is dear. Practice presence, focus on the heart and be sure that wherever you are there is always an opportunity to bring compassion and love to whoever crosses your path. Yoga is connection.  When we connect to the things that really matter like;  relationships, health, service, love, appreciation and gratitude we really can  restore our world to wholeness.

Wednesday October 28th – 7 to 9pm

Amy Perri, ERYT500/Reiki Practitioner & Benjamin Craig, Lic. Acup/Reiki Master

In this amazing session restorative yoga, reiki energy healing and acupuncture are infused with aromatherapy to indulge you in an experience that was created to bring your body, mind and spirit into harmony and wholeness.

This session provides a gentle introduction to the powerful, healing qualities of acupuncture.  Each restorative yoga pose is gently complimented by acupuncture points that have the ability to release blocks, move vital chi (life force energy), boost your immune system, calm emotions and relax the mind.

  • Restorative yoga postures are supported by blankets, pillows, straps and bolsters to relieve tension, stress & open energy in the body.
  • Reiki Healing is a non-invasive channeling of universal healing energy with the intention of loving kindness sent to the receiver.
  • The creative art of aromatherapy (use of pure essential oils) allow your body and mind to relax even deeper, while lifting the emotions it creates an atmospheric shift in the room.

First come, first serve – This workshop will fill up – Register as soon as possible.

Due to the nature of this class we must limit attendance to ten participants.  These workshops do fill up! Please register as soon as possible.  Payment of $55 is due by October 24thto hold your spot. (No refunds after 48 hours prior to session)

Never give up. No matter what is going on. Never give up.

Be compassionate. Not just with your friends but with everyone. Be compassionate.

And I say again, Never give up. No matter what is going on around you. Never give up. Never give up.

-The Dalai Lama

Sometimes we feel as if we can’t go on. The mountain is too big, the task too daunting, the yoga pose too difficult, the situation too unmanageable.   It is always helpful to remember that even the most incredible tasks begin  by taking the next or first step, however small or insignificant that step may seem, it is a step forward non the less. Even if it means stepping back, collecting your thoughts, formulating a plan or just taking repose.  Keeping our minds on the action we need to take and letting the result rest in the hands of the universe, allows us to be in the present moment, even in difficult times.   You are enough, you have everything you need to move forward.  All you have to do is believe in yourself, let go of excuses and just begin.
