Beach Yoga 645pm with Live Music Tonight!

As the Beach Yoga Season is beginning to wind down (Only a few more weeks left of sunlight), we are having a special treat tonight!  Michael Smith and friends will be joining us with live musical accompaniment! (Bring a friend and come two for $25) Class Cards always honored.

Class begins at 645pm as the sun (surya) begins to set at 736pm.     Experiencing all the colors and beauty of the sun after it sinks into the water reminds me of feeling the beautiful, vibrational echo of a yoga pose after we let it go!  There is much beauty in the letting go.

Please arrive a before 645 so we can promptly head down to the sand.  We won’t want to miss a moment!

Greetings dearest yoga students,

“Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions”.  I love this quote from the late, great BKS Iyengar.  Maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life is not as easy as it sounds.  Situations, events, people and even our own minds can throw us out of balance leading us to act in, shall I say, less than skillful ways.  The great news is that we have ways to return to equanimity and integrity.  Just as if we are coming into a yoga pose, we can breath, feel, relax and realign to what is true, right and integral in the moment.  Even if we have to stop and realign a thousand times a day, this is the practice and this is living your yoga.  May you allow it to guide you through this day!!

2016-07-04 22.51.00

Ola Amigos,

Just returning from Tulum, Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula, I am filled with energy from the natural world both above and below the sea.  It always amazes me how nature can both nurture, awaken, excite and renew our spirits.  In the same way our yoga practice unites us to that which is everlasting and unchanging:  Gazing at the shore and sky, swimming with the fish, and feeling the warm ground underneath the soles of our bare feet connect us to that which is in perfect balance and harmony.  Enjoy this season of abundance, give thanks for the free world that we have the honor to roam and always, pray for those that are not as fortunate as we are right now.

Greetings dearest Yoga Students,

In Yoga there are many dualities.  We ground down to rise up, hug in to shine out, breath in fully to exhale completely; go within to be present to what is all around us; the opposing action creates the unfolding of expansion, and beauty.

Last night my son came home beaming after  visiting a couple who had lost a child a few years back.  He said the mom had been feeling down and one of the boys suggested they visit, bring flowers and say hi.  The couple was so moved they invited the boys for dinner (feeding four teenage boys is a feat in itself!), and the visit ended up being much longer than anticipated.  The couple told stories of their teenage daughter and laughed and reminisced.  The boys were elevated, filled with pride and purpose by  lifting another; they expanded and experienced the beauty of giving.  Just as yoga poses reverberate in our bodes, I believe this experience will not be easily forgotten.

Sometimes the best things in life, are the opposite of what we think we need.  Ground down in your life today to shine out.  If your feeling defeated, down or frustrated, try giving to another and experience the expansion, the opening and the beauty that comes from giving.

“Grace is a wind that is always blowing.  If you really want freedom and unbounded happiness in this lifetime, set your sail now!  Learn how putting your trust in Yoga’s practical and verifiable science connects you to a wisdom that never disappoints.”

It brings me great joy to be in a position to bring yoga into each and every one of your lives.  The science of yoga provides an outlet for our creativity, a safe retreat from our hectic lives, peace of mind and strength and tone of body.  This “verifiable science”, when practiced diligently over time in all areas of our lives, has the ability to transform our very lives. Yogic ethics, physical postures, breath work and meditation grounds us, stabilizes us and most importantly frees us so we may be of service to those we come in contact with.

Greetings dearest Yoga Students,

Much gratitude to all who took part in our first Sunday Morning Yoga Class at Caruso’s Restaurant. The space was beautiful, the music by Joe Spina was inspiring and yoga was peacefully practiced.  We raised a sweet $200 to donate to The Invited Inn Soup Kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church!  “Alone we can do so little, Together we can do so much!” said Helen Keller, and she was so right!.  Sunday Morning classes will be on-going at Caruso’s with the same pricing structure as our yoga room classes ($12 for one/$55 for five/$100 for ten (no one ever turned away).  Caruso’s will be offering a special lunch/brunch on Sundays after yoga.    We will also have fundraising classes every so often to give to those in need.

Yoga this Week – August 3, 2015

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality.

Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

Lao Tzu

om on beach

Greetings dearest yoga students,

We are in the midst of changes, some that are natural like aging and children growing up.  Others are spontaneous like suddenly losing your job or winning the lottery.  We all feel anchored in what is familiar to us and are comforted in what we can count on, like an old favorite receipe or comfy chair.  However, whether we want change or not, it comes.  Sometimes slowly and sometimes like a tidal wave sweeping us off our feet.  The best we can do is “let reality be reality” and join in with the flow.  Allow yourself time to grieve the past if you need to but with all the compassion you can muster up, don’t resist change or try to control it. Allow the energy of acceptance to flow towards gratitude for all you are able to experience.  Like a beautiful flowing river, allow your life to flow and ebb and flow, using your precious energy to be a part of it all.

“Yoga is the practice of observing clearly, listening acutely and skillfully responding to the moment with all the compassion we can muster”

Donna Farhi

  2015-07-21 02.59.10

Greetings dear yoga students,

Thank you for your continued dedication to your practice for it is you that will make this world a better place.  By practicing the art of observing, listening and responding skillfully,  you not only bring health and right action to those around you,  but you also become a wonderful example of how a person can move through the world with integrity, kindness and love.  A beautiful student remarked to me that being in class felt like a “homecoming” to her.  Yoga is a homecoming; a homecoming and a connection to your body, your mind. your community and your true nature which has an amazing wellspring of intelligence, joy and compassion waiting just below the surface to shine!!
