“You can look at every single problem in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit;

you stay alert to opportunities by being grounded in the wisdom of uncertain,

so when your preparedness meets opportunity,  the solution will spontaneous appear.”

Deepak Chopra

  images (19)

Dear yoga Students,

My wish for you on this beautiful Monday morning is that you find yourself feeling grounded in in the wisdom of uncertainly surrounding yourself in peace.   The wisdom of uncertainty is based in the reality that we are merely floating through space and time, traveling to  unknown shores.   It is relinquishing our perceived control and going with the flow of our lives, open to possibility at all times.  When we get stuck in trying to control, we become attached to outcomes and instead of being open to possibilities, we become closed and miss the very solution that is presenting itself.  Grounding yourself in the wisdom of uncertainty, allows you to be free to explore, create and be spontaneous.  These are the true gifts of being alive.

Whether you are trying to balance in a yoga pose, sit on your meditation cushion, or enjoying a holiday if your trying to achieve perfection, it will only elude you,  create judgments, increase stress and take you away from the very energy you desire.  Instead breathe into the possibly of just being and see what arisises.   Stay open, flow and float, enjoy the moment and find the serenity and excitement  that comes from resting in the field of uncertainty.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.
Denis Waitley

Hari Om Dear Yoga Students,

Look around you this morning. Take in the sights and smells of Fall. Breathe in that energy and allow your life to be enough. Call to mind all you have been given. All the blessing and hardships; even trials and tribulations are gifts in disguise. The obstacles in our path allow us to move deeper into our human experience which humbles us enough to be able to reach out for help.  Witnessing all the beautiful outreach these past few weeks is an amazing testament to the power of compassion in action.

Dark times can have the ability to move us away from the material into the spiritual; drawing us nearer to the divine source that carries us through the days when we simply cannot walk on our own. Experiencing the light within the dark (yin and yang) we come to the realization that Santosha (contentment) becomes possible no matter what circumstances surround us right now.

“Clay is molded into vessels and because of the space where there is nothing you can carry water.
Space is carved out from a wall and because of the place where there is nothing you can receive light.
Be empty, and you will remain full…”
                                       Lao-Tzu

Dearest Yoga Students

Hoping this email finds you enjoying the bright morning sunshine and aware of all that you have been given in your life.  The more we become empty, the more we become full.  When we give ourselves time to become quiet, stilling the inner chatter of our minds and our bodies, we can become receptive to our lives instead of trying to control the direction.  Try to carve out a little emptiness in your lives as the days become shorter.    If you give yourself the gift of quiet reflection; whether you come to yoga class, journal, sit in silent meditation or cuddle with a loved one, you will allow yourself to be filled with the love, light, energy and peace that is always there for the taking.  A vessel that is full has no room;  so open your doors and windows, de-clutter your inner house and make space for the things that truly matter.

Never give up. No matter what is going on. Never give up.

Be compassionate. Not just with your friends but with everyone. Be compassionate.

And I say again, Never give up. No matter what is going on around you. Never give up. Never give up.

-The Dalai Lama

~

Sometimes we feel as if we can’t go on. The mountain is too big, the task too daunting, the yoga pose too difficult, the situation too unmanageable.   It is always helpful to remember that even the most incredible tasks begin  by taking the next or first step, however small or insignificant that step may seem, it is a step forward non the less. Even if it means stepping back, collecting your thoughts, formulating a plan or just taking repose.  Keeping our minds on the action we need to take and letting the result rest in the hands of the universe, allows us to be in the present moment, even in difficult times.   You are enough, you have everything you need to move forward.  All you have to do is believe in yourself, let go of excuses and just begin.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality.

Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

Lao Tzu

om on beach

Greetings dearest yoga students,

We are in the midst of changes, some that are natural like aging and children growing up.  Others are spontaneous like suddenly losing your job or winning the lottery.  We all feel anchored in what is familiar to us and are comforted in what we can count on, like an old favorite receipe or comfy chair.  However, whether we want change or not, it comes.  Sometimes slowly and sometimes like a tidal wave sweeping us off our feet.  The best we can do is “let reality be reality” and join in with the flow.  Allow yourself time to grieve the past if you need to but with all the compassion you can muster up, don’t resist change or try to control it. Allow the energy of acceptance to flow towards gratitude for all you are able to experience.  Like a beautiful flowing river, allow your life to flow and ebb and flow, using your precious energy to be a part of it all.

“Yoga is the practice of observing clearly, listening acutely and skillfully responding to the moment with all the compassion we can muster”

Donna Farhi

  2015-07-21 02.59.10

Greetings dear yoga students,

Thank you for your continued dedication to your practice for it is you that will make this world a better place.  By practicing the art of observing, listening and responding skillfully,  you not only bring health and right action to those around you,  but you also become a wonderful example of how a person can move through the world with integrity, kindness and love.  A beautiful student remarked to me that being in class felt like a “homecoming” to her.  Yoga is a homecoming; a homecoming and a connection to your body, your mind. your community and your true nature which has an amazing wellspring of intelligence, joy and compassion waiting just below the surface to shine!!

Greetings dearest yoga students,

Yoga practice is about being aware.  We connect to our bodies, minds and breath so we can be aware and present to what is happening internally; to the places we need to empower, the places we need to open and the places we need to protect.  Therefore, our yoga is about learning about ourselves.  We study the self so we can better understand why we do the things we do so we can let go of the what is not our true nature.  We learn what actions brings us closer to our higher self and the things that take us further away.  We acquire the patience to be with difficult sensations, whether they are emotional, physical or mental, so the interactions can teach us what we need to know to move us along our path.  “Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know”, so embrace your challenges with the pose of the Warrior and stand your ground, be open and embrace the lessons, for they are gifts that come wrapped in the most unlikely packages.

Greetings Dearest Yoga Students,

Have faith in your practice and the ability of your yoga to calm, nurture, enliven and release.  When we move our panic energy our practice through breath work, postures, chanting, and/or meditation we effect not only our physical bodies, but our emotional bodies as well.  Moving prana (life force energy) within ourselves allows us to be more open, more willing, more free to connect to that universal prana that is available for the taking and connects us to all beings everywhere.  In essence, it allows us to show up for ourselves and for others in our life.  Trust your yoga to move through you, all you have to do is show up and be present.  Your Yoga mat will catch you if you fall.
