“You are seeking joy in far off places, but the spring of joy is in your heart. The haven of peace is in yourself”

The Chakras System
Whether you are aware of the chakra system inside your subtle body or not, chakras or energy centers interact with your spiritual, emotional and physical bodies at every moment. The chakra’s are spirals of energy, one relating to the other, that contribute to our overall well being. In Sanskrit the word Chakra translates as “wheel”. Each wheel spins a particular vibrational speed creating a vacuum that draws in anything it encounters on its level. All of life’s experiences have an effect on our entire selves whether positive or negative. Negative experiences force our chakra’s to close as positive experiences enable them to open. In most of us as we move out of childhood, harsh reality begins to effect one chakra or another and they begin to become unbalanced and stop working in harmony with each other. We get stuck in cetain ways of being, not knowing why or how to move forward.. Blocked energy will eventually end up effecting you emotionally and physically as well.
Yoga, body awareness and meditation connects deeply to our chakra system and can act as a rebalancing tool. You may have experienced a deep release when you began practicing yoga. You may even have released cleansing tears or laughter during or after your practice. Each yoga pose directly effects one or more chakras. For instance, backbending opens up the heart and throat chakras while hip openers effect the root and sacral chakras. Incorporating the color, sound and mantra to the corresponding chakra also has powerful healing qualities while meditating.

With each coming week, our study will focus on each individual chakra, begining at the root (Muladhara) all the way up the the crown (Sahasrara). Below is a chart of the chakras, where in the body it is located and its’ individual charactoristics. Next time you feel stuck in a certain area, either emotionally or physically, you may want to check out the chakra associated with your discomfort and work with it in your own way. We do this work not only for ourselves but for the world; When we clear our own inner energies, we can then be open to those around us, being of service with compassion, power, purpose and joy, expressing our dharma in the truest sense.

FLOGA – This Sunday – Yoga Darshana Center 330-5pm – Reserve ASAP
Greetings dear yoga students,
Hoping this email finds you fostering a sense of grateful anticipation for the day and week ahead. Acceptance of life circumstances does not mean to give in, give up or throw in the towel. Acceptance is looking at what fate has brought to your door, examining the facts with an open heart and clear mind and then from deep within gather the courage to do what you need or do – which in some instances is the courage to do absolutely nothing. Whenever we are at odds with something, feel “off-kilter” or are experiencing anxiety, it usually can be traced back to our inability to accept what is happening in the present moment. The moment we begin to trade our expectations in for acceptance, we experience a shift in perspective and sometimes, as if miraculously, the limits begin to fade or change shape.. Acceptance enables us enjoy the senery of our lives the way it is, even if it is not what we expected. So dive in to the present moment of your life today and meditate on the areas that you meet with resistance; breathe a compassionate breath, bless your circumstances, love the people who join you on your journey with all your heart and find the peace and serenity that comes with true acceptance.

We will begin each class with gentle breath work and end with a fifteen minute restorative/relaxation posture incorporating a little massage and reiki therapy.
This class will run on four week sessions. The class is limited to seven students so that everyone can get ample attention. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to try it.

Hari Om Dearest Yoga Students,
In these chilly days of winter, give yourself permission to relax. There is a time for action and a time for in-action. Practice sitting amidst the caos, amidst the messy room, amidst the crowded space in your mind and see what happens. Letting go of your “to do list” is just as important as scratching things off. Our inner wisdom knows that we will never be done, that life is not a grand race to the finish line. If our list keeps growing, consider it a blessing that you have work to do in your life. However, there must also be time to take repose, to step back from all the doing and simply be in your life. Let go of the non-essentials in your life today and make space to rest, cuddle, read, meditate, rejuvinate and….enjoy the journey by experiencing the finer things in life.

Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
Author Unknown
Greetings dearest yoga students,
How many times do we find ourselves “bent out of shape” when things don’t go quite the way we had planned. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to be flexible enough to flow moment to moment in our life adjusting instead of reacting to the situations that occurr? Think about how much more peaceful life would be. Sometimes all it takes is a step back, a moment or more of reflection to think about our part in the situation. To shift our focus on a sollution instead of bringing all of our energies into the problem. This does not mean allowing our personal boundaries to be crossed or negative behavior to continue in or around us. It means taking a step back and being flexible enough, open enough to see the reality of what is happening. To focus our desire on the truth and see where we can adjust and make changes so that we contribute to the sollution. Perhaps in some situations flexibility is simply moving towards acceptance of what we cannot change with compassion and love for all those involved.
What if the only New Years Resolution we had was to simply love ourselves More?
